Anand Mahindra, CEO, Indian multinational automobile Manufacturing Corporation Mahindra & Mahindra have plans to upgrade New-Gen Scorpio which was released in 2014.
The upgrade of its old version was due citing heavy competition Mahindra was facing from automobile manufacturers in the respective markets and is likely to further intensify in light of continuing globalization and consolidation in the worldwide automotive industry. Factors affecting competition include product quality and features, innovation and development time, pricing, reliability, safety, fuel economy, customer service and financing terms.
The company has already examined Scorpio’s latest edition to make it match up with the fierce competition. The new 2016 model Mahindra Scorpio will get diverse enhancements that will make it ready to exceed the expectations of the customer.
Mahindra Scorpio 2016 Edition Feature Upgrades
- The 2016 Mahindra Scorpio will see an upsurge in its interiors.
- Bigger and more comfortable seats to make the drive more relaxed for long journeys.
- The Scorpio’s attempt to get reverse parking camera instead of sensors appears to target against the Hyundai Creta and the Honda BR-V.
- The long pending issue of accessing the front door pockets while the door is still shut, has also been solved with this model. It seems that customer feedbacks had been seriously taken and thus the changes.

Majorly these vehicles will compete with Scorpio, as the other ladder frame SUVs aren’t doing that well.
Mahindra Scorpio 2016 Engine
It is estimated that 2.0-litre mHawk diesel engine is launched with this new model. There is also a speculation that it may be equipped with 2.2-litre petrol engine.
With it’s novel micro-hybrid technology to enhance fuel economy, the diesel engine will produce the same 120bhp of power and it will come with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic box. The petrol on the other hand will churn about 156bhp of power.

Except top variant Mahindra Scorpio’s is not thinking to hike the price. The good news is the diesel engine price won’t change. However, the petrol version in the base model is set at about INR 9.5 lakhs (on-road).
Although bit perky, this variant will give Mahindra an advantage of being felt in luxury class. To top it, the advanced micro-hybrid will get subsidy as well.

The vital drawback all these days was of fuel efficiency. It was bit downside. Now, with this new model, the problem will be solved as the upgrade version has micro-hybrid technology that will enhance fuel-efficiency.

There isn’t much change with the styling except few minor changes visible on the exteriors.However, interior styling and insulation is enhanced to make the cabin feel a lot more premium.
