Durgam Cheruvu, the Secret Lake Will Not Be A Secret Anymore
Durgam Cheruvu, the popular secret lake in Madhapur, Hyderabad, is all set to be revived by plush green pathways with a 2.5km track for joggers and cyclers, shade of trees all over to sit and enjoy cool breeze and the natural scene, clear water with natural rock formations to add to the beauty of the place.
This reality transformation initiative is proposed by K. Raheja Group to the GHMC and TSIIC. This will be a joint venture project between Raheja, GHMC and Telanagana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
It is to be noted that Raheja Group, already has the landmark Inorbit Mall facing Durgam Cheruvu. One can see the entire iconic lake as an aerial view from Inorbit mall. Raheja has proposed 2.5 crore for the jubilant work from its corporate social responsibility fund (CSRF).
It has also come up with a basic but context plan on doing the project.
This project will be completed in three phases
First, a strategy has been planned to tackle dried up water body, garbage and encroachments and cleaning lake water in association with civic departments. The first phase of the work is expected to be completed within a year.
Purgation of the dirt and wild shrubs has already begun, and the Water Works Board had connected the flow of sewage into the lake through an alternate channel. Once the sewage treatment plant is equipped to handle 20 million litres of water a day, the treated water can be let out in the lake. The construction of toilets with natural rock formations are part of the designs for the make over.
This is the first phase of the work.
The second phase work would be to lay a 2.5km long jogging and cycling track with a central median for resters (benches) and signboards.
Children’s play area
Picnic gazebos and an international standard amphitheater to seat around 2,000 people and a car parking for 600 vehicles is also in the list. Finally, the elevated walkway bridge would be built amid the dense green foliage to give a forest feel in the last phase.
